The Civic Engagement Committee works to equip Memphians with the knowledge and skills they need to contribute as active and informed members of a democratic society and promote the growth of healthy communities, global economic vitality, social justice, and the common good. This committee aims to achieve the following objectives:

• Popularize political participation, including seeking elected office, voting, attending or organizing a protest, and engaging with public officials at all levels of government to make Memphis a more positive place to live, work, and socialize.

• Influence policies that promote having the social systems, institutions, and environments on which we all depend work in a manner that benefits all people.

• Hold public officials accountable for their actions.
